Company: Our client is an international manufacturer of drive belts and conveyor belts.

Location: Germany/ Netherlands/ but also other areas possible

Role description:
The Global Industry Segment Manager for the poultry processing industry segment is a global position, which facilitates and supports sales within this segment worldwide from a technical perspective. Many clients and OEMs are located in the Netherlands and northern Germany; therefore, it has been decided to consider these countries as possible places of residence. The Global Industry Segment Manager doesn’t need to visit clients in the Netherlands and Germany often, there are Dutch and German sales colleagues in charge for this. In this new, coordinating, and corporate role, he/she develops relationships with strategic customers and drives sustainable sales by supporting and managing international key customers’ business and projects.

It is a senior role, in which he/she drives supports overall business development within the defined industry segment, by understanding the industry in detail, developing strategies to develop business within this segment and interfacing with all of the connected disciplines within the organisation, such as sales, product management, R&D, purchasing, supply chain etc. He/she must therefore have a collaborative mindset and be able to work with international teams and different disciplines.

Key Tasks:
Managing relationships with key customers (technical perspective):
– Managing relationships with key customers and leading their projects based onstrong technical experience within the industry.
– Providing best in class business and technical support for local organisations working with the key accounts in their own countries. Supporting sales organisations in managing new customers and assisting with negotiations with international accounts.
– Acting as and being a main contact for key customers as a face of the company’s organisation, activating and coordinating resources required to fulfil the specific needs.
– Approving trading conditions defined for key customers, often in a form of business agreements and coordinating their implementation in specific countries.
– Managing the relationships with use of the existing tools, particularly SugarCRM.

Driving and supporting commercial strategies to the assigned industries:
– Understanding impact of identified market trends and customers’ needs in the industry, defining commercial strategies, which contribute to the long-term and sustainable development of the company.
– Assuring the approved strategies are translated to the local sales action plans and executed successfully.
– Continuously reviewing the pricing levels and structures for the proposed solutions to assure they are attractive and affordable to the industry key customers.

– Jointly with the Product Manager decide on applying a special project pricing forspecific applications (and/or customers) whenever it makes sense from a strategic perspective.

Providing input for Product Portfolio Development:
– Continuously striving to improve the product offering to the industry.
– Recognizing needs for products and solutions in and beyond belting industry to provide valuable input which supports growth through a concentric diversification.
– Identifying product gaps, provide an input for possible improvements or a new product development.
– Feed an innovation process with insights based on analysis of the market trends, recommendations and demands from the customers or input from the selling units.
– To participate in validation process of new product developments.

Industry promotion and training:
– Teaching and communicating to the selling units an overall value proposition and competitive advantage of the proposed solutions.
– Guiding and supporting the Marketing Communication teams in developing specific industry content to be promoted through all sales channels.
– Creating programs and actively participating in development of knowledge of the industry specific teams.
– Contributing in building an indisputable level of expertise required and
determined by the corporate strategy.
– Monitoring, proposing corrective actions and reporting progress in achieving objectives defined for the industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Another technical education will only be considered if the selected candidate displays specific high technical and commercial insights in the poultry processing industry.

Professional Experience:
Technical expertise gained in the (Wet) Food Industry, preferably the poultry processing industry, which enables him/her to understand processes in which the company’s products are applied, as well at OEMs as end-users. Combining his/her expertise within the poultry processing industry or a related industry segment with business Acumen.

Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
Fluent in German (both verbal and written)
Fluent written, verbal communication and presentation skills in English. Fluency in other languages is a plus.

Personal Characteristics:
Due to the global scope, this person will travel approx. 50%.
He/she could be living in the Netherlands / Germany (northern region close to the border), due to the relatively good network of existing OEMs in this area.
